Colleen Alloi grew up on her parent’s dairy farm and after graduating in agriculture from the University of Guelph started the farm with her husband Ray. She manages the pigs, sheep, cattle and goats while Ray helps with fieldwork and maintenance. The youngest of their three children, Warren, is still home helping out. Colleen’s greatest passion in farming is the challenge of genetics: breeding for the perfect animal. Her sheep flock are Arcott Outouais, an experimental Canadian breed, and there are always a few exotic chicken breeds around.

Colleen serves on the board of Directors for both Northern Quality Meats and the North Shore Agricultural Society, which arranges the Laird Fair. She has worked hard to develop a local red meat economy, and to encourage awareness and communication between town and country. This year Colleen plans on selling tanned lamb skins and goats milk soaps.
